Milan Fashion Week Fall 2012 Highlights
Fashion’s elite have moved from London to Milan for a taste of the Fall 2012 collections from some of the biggest names in fashion. See some of the highlights here:
For Fall, Karl Lagerfeld developed a collection that included a multitude of ideas and fabrics for the luxurious Fendi woman. He mixed textured fabrics including wool, leather, fur and even PVC to create interesting silhouettes and looks you wanted to touch. There was a hint of modern warrior in his girl with the strong shoulders and oversize belts. With so many separates available, there are more pieces in this line than you could ever name and all are for the confident fashionista. Watch the Fendi show here to see them all:
Although Gucci’s fall collection was very dark, there was still a romantic air about it. While the dark hues could have come across as harsh and serious, sexy sheer blouses, soft velvet, silk pants and oversized outerwear made it seem a little more relaxed. Light fabrics and ruffles made the dark pieces more feminine. Floral prints were done in dark shades of black on dresses and suits. When there was colour, the hues of green, red and purple looked lavish and rich. See Gucci’s dark show here:
Miuccia Prada celebrated beauty and pleasure in the Fall collection allowing her the freedom to delve into many different pieces. The show started off with a number of black coats and dresses featuring large embellishments to help them dazzle all the more. All of the black was broken up by looks in bright primary colours and dizzying prints. While it was easy to get distracted, the line was really about tailoring. Sharp suits, long coats, capes and trousers showed how well-cut separates can make the girl. They were tailored so well that you didn’t really notice them for everything else going on.
