Hit the Chic Shores in 2012’s Swimwear Trends
If you are escaping off to a sunny destination this spring, pack along some show-your-skin style with the hottest trends in swimwear. We’ve scanned sand, sea, shores. stores and runways- and we can guarantee these swimsuits are as fashion forward as a little bit of fabric has ever been.
Sporty Scuba Neons – This spring’s athletic-wear trend took on electric proportions, and it didn’t stop at swimwear. Neon and black colour blocking, sporty zippers, and graphic details are key. Though more sunbather than scuba diver in truth, the inspiration is pure sport.
Pin-Up Classic– Polka Dots, ruffles, stripes and the quintessential Marilyn hourglass; the retro revival we love is embraced in swimwear with high-waist bottoms taking us back in time. Underwire cups are back in balconette and bandeau tops, while girly prints cry for a coat or two of cherry red lipstick and cat-eye shades.
Tropical Prints – Celebrate your vacation with a colourful tropical print on your swimsuit. Many designers took from the tropics for their spring collections, and now you can take your favourite fully blossomed patterns to the tropics. Florals, feathers and foliage were all seen on swimwear this year. You can even mix in some tribal prints for a twist on the ordinary.
Animal Prints – Tap into your wild side in paradise with leopard and python prints. With feminine, youthful cuts and added details like ruffles and balconette tops, even these often overtly sexy prints can be classically chic and avoid the gaudy shores. No cougars here, just pure seaside sophistication.
