Top 2011 Fashion Trend: Retro Style

Throughout the holiday season, Real Style Network will be taking a look back at some of our most popular Celebrity Style and Fashion Trends of the year. 2011 seemed to be the year for retro style. Films like The Rum Diary and The Help, along with television shows like Mad Men and Pan Am helped bring retro fashion to the world. The runways matched what we saw on television with Burberry, Prada and Tibi brought the 60’s to life. We loved that our readers embrace the trend making all of our retro themed stories popular. See this piece on retro fashion from The Help.

Today Kathryn Stockett’s civil rights novel The Help comes alive with the assistance of actresses Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard. As one of the year’s most highly anticipated films, we’ll be lining up at the theatre to check out the retro fashion by costume designer Sharen Davis as much as for the storyline. From kitten heels to the full skirted dresses that modern designers like Marc Jacobs brought to this season’s runway, our picks below were all inspired by the Mad Men-era in which the movie takes place. Put it all together for your own twist on old school Southern style.
