Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Lanvin Show During Paris Fashion Week
Louis Vuitton Givenchy Lanvin
Our round ups of the top shows from Paris Fashion Week continues with a look at shows from Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Lanvin:
Marc Jacobs created a light look for Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2012 collection. To do so, he created a line that was very girly, pretty and filled with light candy colours, lace and floral. Crocodile coats and eggshell lacquer bags were applauded as amazingly detailed for the designer showing his true craftsmanship and skill. Dresses were ladylike with skirts hitting at or below the knee. His models looked quite prim and proper. Some of the jackets were given an edgier motorcycle jacket cut, but stayed in the girly colours. Feathers added volume to evening wear. Kate Moss made a surprise appearance finishing the show in a cute short feathered dress. Watch the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 runway show here:
Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci followed in the underwater theme we have seen from Paris taking inspiration from the sleek look of a wet suit. The looks were very slick, tailored and form-fitting. Pants were very tight and tailored, while dresses had interesting cuts meant to imitate the look of shark ribs. Blazers and jackets stood out for their amazing tailoring. He tried to give the line a more feminine side to balance his often dark collections by including blush and white shades. Some shirts and blouses had a feminine touch with ruffles, light fabrics and peplum. Evening wear offered many of the same looks in sequined and shiny fabrics. For Spring, Lanvin’s designer Alber Elbaz surprised with a collection based in sportswear. He developed sportswear that was luxe, glamourous and sexy. There were the expected black dresses in both fitted and more draped forms, but it was the silk tracksuits and jumpers that surprised critics. Power suits were very dark and sleek with a lot of bold shoulders. Some of the items had snake looking embellishments wrapped around the models and draped over their necks. Eveningwear came in light airy dresses and wildly embellished dresses. Elbaz managed to offer up a line that while expected still surprised the fashion world. Watch the Lanvin fashion show here:
