Lace Outfits Get Bold And Sexy This Season
Lace has always been popular and typically found on romantic blouses and prim dresses –not so this season. Lace has been shaken up and is looking to lose it’s goody-goody rep, worn top to bottom in the form of sexy separates, au courant jumpsuits and corseted dresses in black, white and navy. While all over sheer lace is difficult for the average fashionette – not exactly office appropriate and even a risky choice for cocktails, there are elements of the trend that you can incorporate at home: a lace jumpsuit with a blazer thrown on top is an unexpected choice for an evening out and sheer lace blouses become wearable when paired on top of a form fitting camisole and worn with jeans.
Lanvin‘s use of lace put a spin on classic elements. We love the idea of a black lace blazer as an alternative to your traditional go-to but recommend that you pair with very simple staples for an appropriate take on the trend. It’s no question that Natalia Vodianova looks stunning in this Stella McCartney one piece, but keep in mind that she is one of the world’s top models. Go for it if you’re long legged, (lace can be unforgiving), the addition of strappy high heel sandals is a good idea to help toughen up the look.
Dolce & Gabbana of course had a super sexy concept for lace and sent sheer dresses topped over vibrant undergarments. Replicating this look may garner you a few stares but to make it more ‘real’ we suggest a brightly coloured full length slip for a dramatic yet wearable option.
