Gucci, Prada & Versace At Milan Fashion Week
Gucci Prada Versace
On the final day of Milan Fashion Week, we are taking a look back at the biggest and best shows from Italy’s stylish runways. Here is a look at fashion shows from Gucci, Prada and Versace:
The twenties has been huge on the Spring 2012 runways, but Gucci tried not to play up the trend as much as some other designers. The collection was a bit like if the 80’s met the 20’s. There was the 20’s influence in drop waist dresses, laser cut leather that looked like fringe and sequin flapper inspired evening wear. The line also had a masculine feel with pleated trousers, boxy jackets and androgynous looks. The garments had geometric prints and colour blocked styles with many contrasting colours and bold shapes. See the fashion show here:
Miuccia Prada wants to make women sweet and feminine next Spring. In a show that critics are calling breathtaking, Prada paid tribute to the 50’s instead of following the crowd with dropwaist dresses from the 20’s (something Prada showed last season). The Prada line was pretty with lots of floral prints in different styles and sizes, pleats in airy blouses, dresses and skirts, and lady-like car coats. If you are feeling whimsical and edgy, Prada offered car prints and flames on tops and leather skirts. One piece swimwear and bandeau tops let the girls show some skin. Profits for the first half of the year jumped 74% for the luxury line according to reports, with this line so well received the fashion house should continue to see profits soar. Donatella Versace brought her own style to the Spring 2012 collection making a line that was typically Versace, but still fabulous. They offered cool and sexy femininity just like the designer wanted. The line had a sea theme with sea horses, seashells and sunfish adorning the garments. Prints and gold studs covered nearly every look in the youthful line. Dresses were short and cute, short shorts were paired with bandeau tops and jackets and platforms were towering. There were also some longer knee length skirts for the more modest. See Versace’s under the sea fashion show here:
