FASHION NEWS: Balmain, Elle MacPherson & Carine Roitfeld
Here are some of the fashion news headlines of the day:
Designer Christophe Decarnin is leaving Balmain. Decarnin has been the creative director of Balmain for the past five years. His successor has not been named yet. Rumours that he was leaving began earlier this year when he was absent from Balmain’s Fall 2011 show on doctor’s orders. [Vogue UK]
Elle MacPherson will be hosting a new fashion television show for NBC, Fashion Star. The show will be looking for the next mass market designer in the same style as Project Runway. Grand prize is placement in a national chain store. Also, viewers will be able to go online after each episode and purchase any of the garments shown. [Styleite]
Former Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld has been asked by Karl Lagerfeld to style Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2011 campaign. Roitfeld apparently just finished shooting the campaign with model Freja Beha Erichsen. Roitfeld will also be a guest editor and stylist at Barney’s this fall. [WWD]
