Matthew Williamson is the next designer to work on a lower priced line for Macy’s. His capsule collection will comtain 30 styles including embellished dresses, scarves and jumpsuits. The line will debut in Macy’s stores and online on April 13. Prices range from $50 for a blouse to $300 for jackets. [WWD]
In the latest on the Galliano affair, the man who is alleging the designer insulted him and his girlfriend at a bar is speaking out. The man called the incident “a simple bar dispute.” He says he doesn’t think Galliano is racist, just very ill. He said that he hopes Galliano can come back from this incident and return to the fashion industry. [The Cut]
Hudson’s Bay Company confirmed they acquired the franchise to bring Topshop to Canada. The agreement allows the company to open both Topshop and Topman stores across Canada, as well as sell their garments in existing The Bay stores starting this fall. This is big news for shoppers who have been anxious to get ahold of the affordable UK fashions. [Marketing Mag]
