Phoebe Philo, the creative designer of Celine, won Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. Phoebe Philo beat out Christopher Kane and Erdem Moralioglu for the top honour from the British Fashion Council. Other winners included Mulberry, Nicholas Kirkwood and Alexander McQueen was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design. (WWD)
Jimmy Choo is going back into men’s footwear. After nine years of being ladies only, Jimmy Choo announced they will be creating a men’s footwear line for fall-winter 2011. The line will include dress shoes, boots, sandals and slippers for guys. You can get your first peak during Milan men’s fashion week. The shoes will be available at 30 Jimmy Choo boutiques and online. (LA Times)
Three American fashion icons were honoured this week at the NYC & Company Foundation’s Leadership Awards. Diane von Furstenberg, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren were recognized for their leadership in the fashion industry by their peers. The crowd included Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Zac Posen just to name a few. (Stylist)
