mtv ema awards red carpet fashion eva longoria rihanna taylor momsen shakira

Last night, all eyes were on the daring and fabulous fashions on the purple carpet of the MTV European Music Awards in Madrid, Spain. MTV Awards always bring out some wild fashion choices and last night was no exception.

Music’s resident fashionista Rihanna ruled the purple carpet in a peach ruffled Marchesa dress. She kept her fiery red hair up and let the dress do all of the talking. Miley Cyrus chose a similar (but more modest) style dress with a tiered ruffle white Dolce & Gabbana number with a high neck and black bow. Maybe we have a future fashion maven on our hands.

Mini dresses were a huge hit on the purple carpet at the EMA’s. EMA host Eva Longoria wore a black bold shoulder mini dress from the Georges Hobeika Spring 2010 couture and a pair of Brian Atwood pumps. The dress didn’t really suit her little frame, but she had ten outfit changes over the night, so we didn’t have to look at it for long. Shakira chose a gold/bronze metallic mini dress with a deep v-neck that accentuated her famous curves. She continued the metallic theme during her on stage performance with a pair of silver pants. Katy Perry wore a red sequin Jeremy Scott dress that was designed to look like an Admit One ticket. It was eye catching, but tame for the girl who once wore a light up dress.

Some stars decided not to dress up at all. Taylor Momsen looked like she just rolled out of bed in a black button-down shirt open to reveal her bra and a pair of thigh high leather boots. Ke$ha kept things edgy in purple satin flares and a ripped tank top down the red carpet.

Unfortunately Lady Gaga, who was the big winner of the evening, couldn’t attend the show so we didn’t get her wild fashion.
