FASHION NEWS: Betsey Johnson, Katy Perry, Tina Knowles
Here are some of the fashion news headlines from the week:
Steve Madden now has complete control over the Betsey Johnson line. Last month, Steve Madden bought out an almost $50 million loan and now owns all of the intellectual property of Betsey Johnson including trademarks and the Betseyville line. While Madden has put millions into the fashion line, he says Betsey Johnson won’t change. He wants to increase marketing and solidify the day wear and shoe lines. (WWD)
In more Steve Madden fashion news, the shoe designer is said to be in talks with Katy Perry to create her first clothing line. (Steve Madden has collaborated with the Olsen twins on their Elizabeth & James footwear lines, so he is no stranger to celebrity fashion. Katy Perry does have a very distinct fashion sense, but we wonder whether it is one that should be mass marketed. (New York Post)
Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mom and co-founder of the Deréon fashion lines, is starting another clothing line. The new Miss Tina by Tina Knowles line will be launching in special Walmart stores around the US this month. The line ranges in size from 2 to 20. The celebrity mom says she thinks everyone deserves good fashion regardless of size or price. (Stylist)
