Last night, America’s top fashion designers gathered to honour the best in fashion at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards ceremony in New York City. Celebrities and fashion designers were out in full force at the event to give tribute to the best of the best in fashion design.

Marc Jacobs took home the biggest prize of the night, Womenswear Designer Of The Year. The other top fashion design winners were Rag & Bone as Menswear Designer Of The Year and Alexis Bittar for Accessories Designer Of The Year.

The Swarovski Awards at the CFDA Awards Show honour America’s up and coming fashion designers. Hot new designer Jason Wu won the Swarovski Award for womenswear, Richard Chai for menswear and Alexander Wang for accessories.

Other winners included Burberry’s Christopher Bailey being given the International Award, Iman received the Fashion Icon Award, Ralph Lauren won the Popular Vote Award, and the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Michael Kors.

The red carpet fashion was, as expected, fabulous. Sarah Jessica Parker, who was there to honour her friend the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen, wore a long pink gown chosen by his successor at the Alexander McQueen brand, Sarah Burton. Almost every fashion news outlet put Gwyneth Paltrow on their best dressed list for her sparkling black Michael Kors dress. Iman looked stunning to receive her award in a custom Giambattista Valli strapless gown. Other notable red carpet fashions included Gossip Girl’s Michelle Trachtenberg in a strapless blue Rebecca Taylor gown, Jessica Biel in a printed Diane von Furstenberg dress and supermodel Lara Stone in a strapless Calvin Klein dress.
