Watch The New Trailer For X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Summer is quickly coming, and with it the trailers for the year’s big blockbusters. X-Men: Dark Phoenix is expected to be one of them, although the latest film in the franchise didn’t do so well. There has been a lot of talk about how good Dark Phoenix is, or isn’t as well, considering it was supposed to have been released last year before being pushed back. Now that the first trailer has been released though, we have to admit it looks pretty good.

Today is day 5 at the 40th anniversary of the Toronto International Film Festival, which is the half way point, but people have all ready started talking about the next big film festival that starts on the 25th of September. Today The New York Film Festival released a 6o second trailer to hype the 53rd anniversary of the event, and we’ve got to admit it has us intrigued.

Now Playing – Movies Opening June 8th, 2012

The Avengers lost their top spot two weeks ago to Men in Black 3, and Snow White and The Huntsman took the top spot last week, and it appears as if another movie will be number one this week. Ridley Scott returns to a science fiction favourite series for the adults, and a cartoon franchise returns for a third time for the kids, both of which will probably make box office gold.

Most Januarys are pretty mediocre when it comes to movies, and this one has been no exception. This week’s new releases are another mishmash of genres that all pretty much seem to be leaning towards action. There’s a fourth movie in a series, a straight action flick, a modern day adaptation of a Shakespeare play and a World War II air battle movie.

It’s a true story based on the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, and how a young woman strains it.

It is truly the year of the superhero movie. What started in January with the Green Hornet, continued in May with Thor, now moves onto a reboot of sorts to the series that started this comic book inspired trend in the first place. Will X-Men: First Class be as good as the first two movies in the franchise were, or will it be more like the third?
