TV Shows To Finally Watch During The Lockdown
Let’s face it, there are a lot of TV shows out there that you just haven’t had the time to watch. We’re not talking about sitcoms here, because after all who can’t find 30 minutes (in truth about 20 minutes after taking out commercials) to watch an episode or two. We’re not even talking about the weekly episodic dramas like Grey’s Anatomy or Chicago Fire, because really you can watch an episode or two and are able to jump right into the story without knowing the back stories. You might miss a beat or two, but usually you can catch up pretty quickly. Instead we’re talking about the TV shows that carry on from week to week, with a story line that has been ongoing since the first episode. These are the shows that are hard to miss even a single episode, because if you do you are lost. Here are some of our favourites.
Breaking Bad: Over the course of 5 seasons and 62 episodes, you get to witness the evolution of a school science teacher into a drug lord after he’s diagnosed with lung cancer. He’s looking to secure his family’s future, but ends up becoming more and more corrupt as the series goes on. There is also a follow-up movie released last year, and a prequel series called Better Call Saul that is currently in its fifth season.
Game of Thrones: It’s still shocking that there are people who haven’t watched this series. It ran for 8 seasons and had 73 episodes, and each episode felt like it belonged on a movie screen instead of your TV. It follows the power play between several different families as they look to rule the ancient land of Westeros. While fighting among themselves however, an ancient evil begins to rise and make its own play for control.
Peaky Blinders: While this series about a gangster family living in 1919 England has yet to be completed, now is the perfect time to watch everything that has been released so you can be in anticipation for the final two seasons. Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson star in this riveting drama.
Westworld: Westworld is currently airing its third season, but in order to watch it you really need to see what has come before. Otherwise you might find yourself lost in this series that follows a world where people can satisfy every appetite thanks to a robot fantasy world. Of course when the robots start to rebel things get very interesting.
Ozark: This series starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney has been released at a maddeningly slow pace on Netflix, but season 3 just came out recently. It follows a money launderer who is forced to relocate his family in order to appease a drug boss. The series is set to conclude with season 4, which hopefully doesn’t take another two years to come out.
The Handmaid’s Tale: Even if you’ve read the book, you still need to watch this series about life in a dystopian future because it’s gone well beyond the confines of the original Margaret Atwood novel. Elisabeth Moss stars as June Osbourne, a woman who is caught up in this new world, and forced to be a concubine to one of the world’s new leaders. Production for the fourth season has stopped due to current events, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to see what comes next.
