Drake Sets Another Billboard Record With Toosie Slide

Even during a worldwide lockdown, Toronto rapper Drake still managed to set a new record. His new single Toosie Slide debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart, making him the first male artist, and only the second act over all to debut three songs at the top spot.

In case you were wondering, Drake’s other hits to debut at number one are God’s plan, which landed in the top spot in February 2018, and Nice for What, which actually booted God’s Plan out of the top spot in April 2018. The only other artist to debut three singles at number 1 is Mariah Carey, who did it between 1995 and 1997 with her hits Fantasy, One Sweet Day and Honey.

Drake now has seven overall number one hits on the Billboard Top 100, but he has a long way to go to reach the record of 20 set by the Beatles. Drake now has 37 top 10 singles however, placing him 1 behind the leader Madonna. He holds the record for most top 10 debuts with 21, most top 40 singles with 101, most hot 100 entries with 209, most consecutive weeks on the Hot 100 with 431 and is tied for the lead for most Top 10 singles from one album with 7.
