Frasier Getting Closer To Becoming The Latest Sitcom Revival

Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Frasier Crane first showed up on Cheers during the third season of the hit TV series. He became a mainstay until the final episode of season 11, when the show was cancelled From there he moved onto his own spin-off, Frasier, a series that lasted another 11 years. Since then both shows have lived on in syndication, playing every night of the week. With all the hit TV shows being revived these days, it’s not surprising that Frasier was one of those being considered to make a return. Last year Grammer broke the news that he was in negotiation with CBS, and now it looks like we are getting closer to seeing the Dr. back on the air.

Deadline is reporting that Grammer was seen in London with a Frasier script. When asked about it he said “That little folder is filled with six different ideas that are all in contention for what may be the new Frasier. A continuation of Frasier. They’re similar, it’s a new life, in a new city.”

The show starring Grammer, John Mahoney David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin. Mahoney passed away last year though, something Grammer also discussed. He said “Of course, John Mahoney died so you’d need to replace that energy, perhaps like they did on Cheers with Coach, they found Woody, who had the same kind of sensibility.”

As of the moment no word has been given as to when the new show will air, or even when production will start. But with Grammer going over ideas it looks to be a little closer to becoming reality.
