Joss Whedon Casts Laura Donnelly For The Lead In His HBO Series The Nevers
Joss Whedon’s upcoming HBO series The Nevers has found its lead, Outlander star Laura Donnelly.
The new series has announced last July, and back then it was described as a sci-fi epic that follows the story of a group of Victorian woman with unusual abilities who have a mission that could possibly change the world, the only problem is they need to get past the relentless enemies on their tail. In the series Donnelly will star as Amalia True, who is the most reckless, impulsive, emotionally damaged hero in the show. She’s also described as a menace, and although she is dedicated to the cause, she also likes to drink.
Whedon told Variety that “Laura Donnelly has charisma, wisdom and an anarchic precision that not only captures Amalia but defines her. She’s fierce and she’s funny – and I need both for the journey ahead.”
For for who Donnelly is, her best known role is that of Jenny Fraser on the hit series Outlander. She’s also been seen in the mini-series Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, Missing, Casualty and Hex. She will also be seen on the big screen next month in the biopic Tolkien, which tells the story of Lord of the Rings creator J.R.R. Tolkien.
The Nevers currently doesn’t have a release date, but with casting currently moving forward, it may be as early as next year.
