Shawn Mendes Gets The Most Nominations For The 2019 Juno Awards

The 2019 Juno Awards will be hosted this year in London, Ontario on March 17, with legendary singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan hosting, and now we have a better idea of who might just be the talk of the evening. Pop superstar was named the leading nominee heading into the event with six nominations, including Single of the Year and Album of the Year.

The Pickering Ontario raised singer had quite the year, with his single “In My Blood” topping the charts and his self-titled album doing the same. Both were nominated yesterday for Juno awards, while the 20-year old also picked up nominations for Juno Fan Choice, Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year. The album, his third, also included such hits as “Lost in Japan” and “Youth”. He also received his first two Grammy nominations earlier this year.

Following closely to Mendes, Toronto R&B artist The Weeknd received five nominations, including Artist of the Year, Fan Choice, Best Single and Best Album. He’s also up for the R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, which he has previously won four times.

McLachlan, no stranger to the Juno awards with 12 wins in her past, was announced as the host. Toronto DJ duo Loud Luxury, who are also up for four awards, were announced as the first performers, along with bülow and the 2019 Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Corey Hart. Music producer David Foster will receive the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award during the evening as well.

The complete list of nominees can be found on the Juno Awards official website.
