2019’s Most Anticipated Films
With 2018 quickly approaching our rear-view mirror, we can start looking ahead to the year ahead. 2018 was a big year for film, with record box office draws and some of the most talked about films in years. 2019 looks to be a big one as well though, and already there are several films coming up that we can’t wait to see.
Avengers: Endgame – Even though there is a sequel to Wonder Woman coming up, Marvel’s first female driven film Captain Marvel, and even another Spider-Man film, it’s the Avenger’s yet again that we can’t wait to see. After the events of Infinity War left us hanging we need to know how everything is going to end. Will some of our heroes remain dead (as is the rumor), or will there be a happy ending? At this point no one is talking, and no rumours have been confirmed. All we know for certain is that we have to wait until the end of April to find out.
Star Wars – We can’t even put a complete title to this one as they haven’t told us what it is other than it being the ninth of the series. We also know for certain is that this film will mark the end of the Skywalker saga that has been going on since the late 70s. JJ Abrams is back as the director as well, so you better be prepared for more nostalgia. Fans will surely complain, as they usually do, but they will also flock to the theatre and make this one of the big hits of the year.
Toy Story 4 – It’s hard to say whether Disney’s big animated hit this year will be Pixar’s Toy Story 4, or Frozen 2, but we’re choosing this one because it is sure to have a wider appeal. Toy Story started Pixar’s string of hits, and will surely continue them with this one. Woody, Buzz and all the rest are back for another adventure, which includes new characters, including a fork which is being used as a toy.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film is full of stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino and Margot Robbie, and is one of the most anticipated of the upcoming year. It follows the story of a TV actor whose career has faded, and his stunt double who are trying to make their way through 1969’s Los Angeles during the reign of terror brought on by the Manson family.
It: Chapter Two – 2017’s It was the biggest hit horror films have had in a long time, and we always knew there would be a sequel since only half of the book was covered the first time around. Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader, join the cast as the adults the children of the first movie became. Should be the scarefest everyone wants to see.
The Lion King – It’s hard to say where Disney will draw the line when it comes to “live-action” remakes of their hits, considering this film is still animated, just in a more realistic way. It almost looks like a shot for shot remake, which really makes this not very interesting at all. But, that being said, it is The Lion King, and it should still be fun to watch. And it should should draw in the crowds.
