Musical Acts to Catch in Toronto this May
Last month Toronto saw a few throwback artists like O-Town and Bon Jovi, but with a new month upon us there seems to be a millennial music trend for May. With the end of another school year, many college students are looking to catch their favourite artists on stage. Luckily for millennials, Toronto is going to be filled with some of music’s biggest names this month. Here are some performers to check out.

The last time Future performed in Toronto he was accompanied by 6ix favourite, Drake. He returns to the city May 16 on the Budweiser Stage as part of his Nobody Safe tour. Though Future had been making a name for himself in the United States, it wasn’t until he collaborated with Drake on “Jumpman” that he caught the eye of Toronto rap fans. It is Future’s first tour and fans can expect special guests like Migos, Tory Lanez and Kodak Black.
With over a decade of experience under their belt, The XX is a must-see for indie pop fans. This English band is known for their electronic rock vibe and will be performing at Echo Beach for two nights. On May 22nd and 23rd, fans can enjoy some of their top hits like “Angels” and “On Hold”.
After winning three Grammy’s in February, Chance The Rapper changed the game after his album Coloring Book was the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy. The rapper is known for his gospel influences in his music and his activism. He will be performing hits like “All Night” on May 24th at Budweiser Stage.
The Weeknd has been making headlines with the success of his recent album Starboy and his current relationship with Selena Gomez. The Toronto native also recently announced his partnership with PUMA. On top of all this, he is continuing to tour and will be making a stop in his hometown on May 26th.

It seems you can’t turn the radio on without hearing The Chainsmokers. The EDM-pop duo first made waves in 2014 when they released the viral song “#Selfie”. Since then they have continued to release hits like “Closer” and “Paris”. After headlining past Canadian festivals such as Veld and IleSoniq, they are touring solo and will be performing at the Air Canada Centre on May 30th.
