Britney Spears Biopic Is Heading To Lifetime
Just ahead of the release of Britney Spears’ ninth studio album, Lifetime has announced that it is in the process of making a Biopic based on the popstar’s life. Unfortunately for them, Britney Spears won’t be a part of it.
The network announced yesterday that the biopic will be titled Britney, and tells the story of Britney’s life from her upbringing in Louisiana all the way to her very public meltdowns in the late 2000s. Natasha Bassett of Hail, Caesar! has been attached to star, with Leslie Libman set to direct.
Spears’ rep told EW that the 34 year old singer is not contributing to the film “in any way, shape or form.” They also went on to say that the film doesn’t have her blessing either.
Britney’s first hit came in 1999 with …Baby One More Time when she was just 17, and her popularity has continued to soar. She has however been a target of tabloids for her behavior, including her quickie marriage and annulment to her childhood friend, and her marriage to Kevin Federline. She also shaved her head after a quick stay in a drug rehabilitation facility. In the last few years however her career has bounced back, with a successful residency in Las Vegas, and several hit songs. Her new album, Glory, is set to be released on August 26th. She is also set to perform at Sunday’s MTV VMAs.
Britney will begin production in September, and be released in 2017.
