Watch The First Wonder Woman Trailer From Comic-Con
If there’s any doubt that the upcoming Wonder Woman movie will kick butt, just watch the trailer. The upcoming 2017 film starring Gal Gadot in the titular role premiered its first trailer on Saturday at Comic-Con, and it has gotten fans talking.
When Gal Gadot was announced to be cast as Wonder Woman a couple of years back, people started wondering if Wonder Woman as a character would be able to hold up a film on her own. After all, female superheroes have had a hard time topping the box office in the past. Her first trial would come in the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice that came out earlier this year, and while the film may not have performed as well as expected at the box office, people still were talking about how good Gadot was in the role. She had the look and proved that she could hold her own with the male leads of the film in the fighting department. Still would a solo Wonder Woman movie be any good? In order to stop doubters before they were able to spread their negativity any further, DC Comics decided to release their first trailer, and man does it look good.
In the trailer you get the first meeting between Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine), which also happens to be the first time she’s seen a man. And from there it’s all about the fighting. From Wonder Woman wearing a ballgown while carrying a sword, riding a horse a she charges into battle, blocking bullets with her bracelets and using her magical golden lasso, Wonder Woman shows she can kick serious butt. The movie takes place during World War One (which ties into a photo seen in Batman V. Superman) which of course means she’ll be facing prejudices of the time. At one point Steve Trevor says “I can’t let you do this,” but Wonder Woman will have none of it and she replies “What I do is not up to you.” You also catch a glimpse of her origin in the preview, when she tells Trevor that she doesn’t have a father.
Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2, 2017.
