Most Anticipated Sequels Of 2016
This weekend there were not one, but two sequels to 2013 movies hitting the theatres. The Conjuring 2 and Now You See Me 2 both are expected to perform decently, and draw in fans of their respective franchises. They aren’t the first sequels to hit the theatres this year, won’t be the most sucessful (We’re looking right at your Captain America), and they definitely won’t be the last. Here are the top sequels yet to come in 2016.
Independence Day Resurgence – June 24: It took 20 years for a sequel to be made to Independence Day, and by the looks of things it’s going to be just as explosive as the original. Most of the cast has returned for this one, except for Will Smith whose character was killed off between films. It’s hard to say if the movie will be a success or a flop, but only time will tell.
Jason Bourne – July 29: After taking the fourth movie in the hit franchise off, Matt Damon returns to the series that made him an action star. Director Paul Greengrass also returns in this film, about the secret agent who is finally discovering more about who he is and finding out more secrets from his past.
Star Trek Beyond – July 22: Will the rebooted Star Trek franchise continue to succeed without J.J. Abrams’ full attention? We think so. He is still producing it after all, and the previews make it look like it will be a different Star Trek movie than we have seen in the past. That in itself has piqued our curiousity.
Bridget Jones’s Baby – September 16: It’s been 12 years since we saw a Bridget Jones film, and one has to wonder, does anyone even want to see another one? With it being released in what is typically the movie graveyard month of September, we can’t help but think the movie studio is wondering the same thing.
Inferno – October 28th – Tom Hanks is back as Robert Langdon, the man who broke the Di Vinci Code. This time he not only has to deal with a case of amnesia, but also try to stop a deadly plot that threatens the world.
