Brie Larson In Talks To Play Captain Marvel

Brie Larson won an Oscar for her performance in Room, and now sources are telling Variety that she is in talks to take on a superhero for one of her next roles.

Marvel Comics’ Captain Marvel may not have a director yet, and it might just be in the early development phase, but Variety is reporting that Larson is their first choice for the role. They are also reporting that she is leaning towards playing the part.

Captain Marvel has had a long history in Marvel Comics with many different people taking up the mantle, but air force pilot Carol Danvers has been the most popular character assuming the role. She first assumed the identity in 1977 after an accident fused her DNA with an alien. She is one of Marvel’s most popular superheroines, and has powers of super strength, flight and energy projection. Several actresses have come out to state they want to play the role, including former Real Style cover girlĀ Katheryn Winnick and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey.

At this point Marvel hasn’t commented on the story, and there is no word on where the negotiations stand. Captain Marvel is scheduled to be release March 8th, 2019.
