Watch The New Batman v Superman Trailer

With 2015 quickly drawing to a close (and the new Star Wars film drawing ever closing), people have all ready started looking forward to 2016 and the new batch of films slated to open. When the first trailer for Batman v Superman was released over the summer fans were rather ho-hum about it, and there were a lot of questions left unanswered. Last night during Jimmy Kimmel Live! the latest trailer was released, and fans seem to be much more invested in it.

Perhaps it’s something to do with the way Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne look at each other as they rip apart each other’s superhero identities, including Ben Affleck’s Bruce saying to Henry Cavill’s Clark “Maybe it’s the Gotham City in me, we just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns,” or perhaps it’s the debut of the real villain in the movie, Doomsday. Whatever it is though, it felt like DC Comics was delivering a message to Marvel’s Civil War movie that is also released next year, stating, we’re here and we’re ready to fight for the top superhero movie of the year.

Jesse Eisenberg also gets much more time on screen in the latest trailer, but honestly he doesn’t seem to really deliver much as Lex Luthor. It might be the hair, but really, you just can’t help but look at him as being too whiny for the arch villain of Superman. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman makes a much bigger splash this time around as well, and the humorous exchange between Batman and Superman on who invited her to the party showed that the movie might just have a little of comedy in it after all to help lighten up the mood.

Of course the big reveal in the trailer is General Zod’s corpse being used by Lex Luthor to create the ultimate Superman villain Doomsday. In the comics Doomsday, a grey monster whose bones protrude from his skin, killed Superman when he first premiered in the 90’s, and he’s been a thorn in the side of the superhero ever since.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on March 25, shortly before Marvel’s Civil War. It will be an interesting year of superheroes battling one another.
