Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith, Taylor Swift and Sam Smith Win At The 2015 Brit Awards
In true star-studded fashion, the 2015 Brit Awards on February 25 at London’s O2 Arena saw the year’s hitmakers take home the biggest awards in British music. The annual awards show is the U.K.’s answer to the Grammys.
24-year-old Thinking Out Loud crooner Ed Sheeran walked away with a coveted award for MasterCard British Album, making a solid impression with his album X. The redheaded singer beat out the competition, which included British indie rockers Alt-J, 21-year-old singer-songwriter George Ezra and soulful Sam Smith. It was definitely a double victory for Sheeran, who was also titled the year’s British Male Solo Artist.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Only Love Can Hurt Like This songstress Paloma Faith took home the award for British Female Solo Artist. 25-year-old Shake It Off diva Taylor Swift made a dazzling impression, bringing home the award for International Female Solo Artist.
Other notable winners included rock group Royal Blood for British Group and Foo Fighters for International Group.
Fans of 22-year-old I’m Not The Only One singer Sam Smith were certainly not left disappointed, as the young star with the intense set of pipes was titled 2015’s British Breakthrough Act and won the evening’s global success award.
We were also “Happy” (pun intended!) to see the eternally young 41-year-old Pharrell Williams take home an award for International Male Solo Artist. After all, his hit summer anthem is no doubt still on repeat and stuck inside the heads of many fans.
