Woody Allen Heads To Amazon To Direct/Write TV Series
Amazon made a huge splash on Sunday when they picked up two Golden Globe Awards for its series “Transparent”, and today they have made another big step forward in the world of television by announcing that they’ve signed Woody Allen to write and direct a new as of yet to be titled tv series for them.
For Allen, it will be his first foray into tv, and in a released statement he said “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.”
Roy Price is of course the Vice President of Amazon Studios. In the same press release he said “Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series. From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”
No release date has been stated at this time, but it is expected to be sometime in 2015.
