Lorde Interview At The 2014 MMVAs

New Zealand singer Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, better as known as Lorde, has been blowing up the charts since her first single hit the airwaves and Real Style was there to see the pop sensation perform at the 2014 MMVAs.

At only 13-years-old, she signed with Universal and chose her stage name from her fascination with “royals and aristocracy,” but felt the name Lord was too masculine so added an ‘e’ to make it more feminine. At 16, she released her hit song Royals and it almost instantly skyrocketed up the charts to number one. Her debut album, Pure Heroine, was released a few months later and received critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide. Lorde received four Grammy nominations and won Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for Royals.

Not only has the 17-year-old been truly successful with her music, but the singer-songwriter also stepped into the world of make-up. She released a two-piece make-up limited edition collection in collaboration with MAC Cosmetics, consisting of a lipstick titled after her debut album, Pure Heroine, and a Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack. Each piece completely encompasses Lorde’s individual style and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Real Style asked her about Canada and what the past 18 months have been like. Watch what she had to say in the interview below:
