TIFF Announces Star Studded Galas For 2013 Film Festival

Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock: Those are just a fraction of the high profile names whose films will grace the big screens at the Toronto International Film Festival this year.

Real Style was there as Artistic Director Cameron Bailey helped to announce the first of the Galas and Special Presentation films for the 38th annual festival. This year’s festival, which runs from September 5 – 15, has one of the biggest line ups of recent years.

The Fifth Estate, the true story of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange played by Benedict Cumberbatch. This is set to be the year of Cumberbatch with three of his films being announced today. Cumberbatch also stars in high profile gala films of 12 Years A Slave, the story of a free black man who is sold into slavery co-starring Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Paul Giamatti, and August: Osage County, about a family returning to Oklahoma for a funeral, co-starring Meryl Streep, Julia Robrets and Ewan McGregor.

They also announced that the closing film will be Life Of Crime starring Jennifer Aniston, Tim Robbins and Mos Def, based on the Elmore Leonard novel, The Switch.

With this being just the first of the films to be announced for TIFF, 2013 is looking to be the biggest year yet. Here are some of the other films that will be playing at TIFF:

Kill Your Darlings starring Daniel Radcliffe in a story of friendship and murder

– Idris Elba takes a starring role in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom the true story of Nelson Mandela.

– Ron Howard brings his racing movie Rush starring Chris Hemsworth and Olivia Wilde.

– Keira Knightley, Adam Levin and Mark Ruffalo star in Can A Song Save Your Life about love and music.

– The much-anticipated Dallas Buyers Club shows the HIV struggle of Ron Woodroof as played by Matthew McConaughey.

– Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth star in Atom Egoyan’s Devil’s Knot about the mysterious murder of three children.

– Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut Don Jon will play here in Toronto.

– George Clooney and Sandra Bullock star in the thriller Gravity.

– Jason Reitman’s latest film Labor Day starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin will premiere at the festival.

Prisoners starring Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis is set to thrill audiences.
