Sundance 2013’s Most Anticipated Movies

Awards season may be upon us, but it’s also time for the first film festival of the year.  Sundance is one of the oldest film festivals, and this year it runs from January 17th – January 24th.  We’ve put together a list of the movies we are most looking forward to this year.

Running From Crazy – This documentary explores the history of mental illness and suicide in model/actress Mariel Hemingway’s family.  From Ernest Hemingway forward, the movie explores how Mariel struggles to avoid a similar fate for herself and her daughters.

Stoker – Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Dermot Mulroney star in this dark drama about a young girl who becomes close with an uncle she never knew she had after her father suddenly dies. Unfortunately for her, she starts to discover that her uncle may not be all that he seems.

A.C.O.D. – Is a comedy about a grown man caught in the middle of his parent’s divorce. Parks and Recreations co-stars Adam Scott and Amy Poehler star with Catherine O’Hara, Jessica Alba, Jane Lynch and Richard Jenkins.  This movie could be a big hit even after the festival is over.

Don Jon’s Addiction – Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes his directorial debut behind the camera to Sundance.  In this movie he plays a sex-crazed, porn addict who tries to become less selfish.  With Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore this one has the potential to be a scene stealer.

The Lifeguard – This may be the last time we get to see Kristen Bell for awhile as she awaits the birth of her first child.  In this movie she plays a reporter who quits her job and heads back home to Connecticut to become a lifeguard, because she believes she’ll be happier doing so.

jOBS – Ashton Kutcher plays Steve Jobs in this bio-pic that follows the Apple founder from dropping out of college to becoming one of the most recognized spokesmen in the world.  It will be curious to see how well Kutcher can play the role, after all Jobs was a huge public figure.

Very Good Girls – It’s only a matter of time before Elizabeth Olsen becomes as big as a name as her sisters, and this movie with Dakota Fanning may just do it.  They play two friends who make a pact to lose their virginity during their first summer out of high-school, but end up both falling for the same man.
