Movies Opening January 27th, 2012
It’s the last week of January, and with it comes four thrillers. One’s a restricted action flick, one’s a comedy, one’s a drama, and one’s a crime/heist. It’ll be interesting to see which one comes out on top, or if Underworld keeps the crown.
Liam Neeson’s latest action flick The Grey has him surviving a plane crash with a few other oil drillers, and trying to survive in the wild. Unfortunately a pack of wolves is hunting them, so their time is limited. Liam has seen a few movies open in the early part of years become successes such as Taken and Unknown, and this one looks pretty decent from the trailers. It very easily could be a sleeper hit.
One For The Money is Katherine Heigl’s latest attempt at making it on the big screen. It’s based on Janet Evanovich’s hit series about an unemployed woman becoming a bounty hunter. If this one flops, it may be back to TV for Katherine. She’s all ready hinted at a guest spot return to Grey’s Anatomy.
We Need To Talk About Kevin has all ready been attracting a lot of buzz, and finally this weekend it hits a wider release. After a teenager goes on a killing spree at his school his parents try to find a way to deal with their grief and feeling of responsibility for his actions. Tilda Swinton and John C. Reily star in this very relevant movie based on the novel by Lionel Shriver.
And finally this week we see Man on a Legde opening. This movie stars Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks and Jamie Bell, and is about a police psychologist who tries to talks a man down from a ledge. The twist is that he’s just a distraction to prevent police from noticing the world’s largest diamond heist that is also in motion.
