Katy Perry Wins Big At The People’s Choice Awards

Katy Perry cancelled her scheduled appearance at the People’s Choice Awards a couple of days ago, but that didn’t stop her from being the big winner of the evening.  She took home 5 statues:  favourite tour headliner, favourite music video, favourite song, favourite female artist and favourite TV guest star.

The top movie receiving awards was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:  Part 2, which won 4 awards.  The final chapter in the hit franchise received awards for favorite movie, action movie, book adaptation and ensemble movie cast.  None of the stars were in attendance either however.

There were plenty of stars on hand to receive their awards however, including Ellen DeGeneres, Nina Dobrev, Chloe Grace Moretz, Adam Levine, Lea Michele and Demi Lovato.  Michelle who won for favourite comedic tv actress said “For all the Rachel Berrys out there, this one’s for you guys,” as she claimed her award.

Emma Stone won twice, once for favourite movie actress and once for favourite comedic movie actress.  “I moved to L.A. eight years ago this week with my mom, who’s right there,” she said. “It is so insane to be standing up here right now. It is hard to describe to you.”

The favourite movies were Bridesmaids for comedy and Water For Elephants for drama.

Morgan Freeman was bestowed the honor of being awarded the first ever favourite movie icon award.  When he accepted it, Freeman stated “When I found out that I’d been nominated for the first-ever People’s Choice movie icon award, I decided to look up ‘icon,’ here’s what I found: The first definition said an icon is a tiny picture on a computer screen that represents a file.”
