The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo On The Cover Of Entertainment Weekly

One of this winter’s most anticipated movies is the David Fincher helmed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  The movie starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara is the remake of the highly successful Swedish movie based on the best selling novel, and is set to hit theatres on December 21st.  Now the stars of the movie are on the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue, due to hit newsstands tomorrow.  Inside the magazine talks to director David Fincher and the stars.

Finched mentioned to EW that “I told Rooney, ‘You’re going to be emaciated, you have to be naked, you have to get raped [on screen], get pierced, smoke cigarettes, ride a motorcycle. I need you to really concentrate and tell me this is something you want.’”

Playing Lisbeth Salander is a role of a lifetime, and it had all ready made a star out of Noomi Rapace who played the role in the Swedish version.  Rooney said “There were certainly things I was scared to do, but I never thought I wasn’t up for the challenge.”  The biggest change for her was dying her hair from brown to black.  “I needed a moment,” she said. “I just had to process, okay, this is what you look like now.”

The movie itself will of course be over analyzed by the fans, considering some people consider the book a modern classic and others think the movie should have never been remade in the first place.  Fincher is up for the challenge however.  “We’ve got something very simple to deliver on,” he said. “A gigantic f—ing book that people have very rigid preconceived notions of.”
