DVD Releases – July 26th, 2011

Of the three new releases, only one saw any level of success at the box office.  There’s a sci-fi flick, a horror, and a drama.  Odds are it’ll be the sci-fi that will do the best.

Source Code is about a solider (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) who is sent back in time over and over to try and solve the mystery of who bombed the morning train before he strikes again.  He’s told he can do nothing to change the events that have happened, but he doesn’t necessarily believe his superiors.  The movie was a decent science fiction movie, but not overly memorable.  It’s one of those movies you’d probably watch on a rainy day.

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night is based on the popular Dylan Dog comic books about a New Orleans detective who specializes in the paranormal.  The movie vanished as quickly from theaters as it appeared, and thanks to it’s poor ratings probably won’t do much better on DVD.  Expect to see this movie in the discount bins at your local Wal-Mart soon!

And finally we come to Trust, David Schwimmer’s latest movie about a teenage girl who is targeted by an online predator.  This movie stars Clive Owen and Catherine Keener, and holds a fair bit of relevance to the dangers faced by online chatting.  The movie has a relatively low distribution, and looks like it could be worth picking up to watch at home.
