2 Billion People Watch The Royal Wedding
Today the world gained a new princess when Kate Middleton and Prince William said their ‘I Do’s.’ It was an intimate moment for the pair, one they shared with 2 billion people around the world.
If you watched the wedding this morning you saw the thousands of people who travelled to London to catch a glimpse of the royals and be there when they became husband and wife. That was nothing compared to everyone who watched the wedding from home. Early reports say 2 billion people from all walks of life watched the wedding courtsey of the 10,000 reporters and 200 cameras there catching the action live.
The royal wedding guest list of those who were lucky enough to be in the Abbey included the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and David Furnish, Mr. Bean aka Rowan Atkinson, Singer Joss Stone, Prince Harry’s on again off again girlfriend Chelsy Davy, as well as royals and leaders from the UK and beyond.
To mark the day, William and Kate were not only named husband and wife, but also Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Earl and Countess of Strathearn and Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus. From here on out Kate will be known as the Duchess of Cambridge.
To put this number into perspective, when Prince Charles married Princess Diana it was a monumental occasion. One that brought 750 million viewers. That’s nothing compared to today’s figure. We are all wishing the happy couple well.
