George Lucas Buying Up Rights To Dead Movie Stars

These days everything is worth something, including apparently the rights to dead movie stars.  According to British actor Mel Smith, George Lucas is buying the film rights to dead movie stars to put them back on the big screen.

The story, which appeared in The Sun, quotes Mel as saying “George has been buying up the film rights to dead actors in the hope of using computer trickery to put them all together, so you’d have Orson Welles and Barbara Stanwyck alongside today’s stars.”

With todays technology anything is certainly possible, but if it does happen how long will it be before today’s actors find themselves out of work?  There would be less bickering on sets, and the actors could do whatever you wanted them to do without any hassle, and of course who wouldn’t want to see the stars of yesteryear back on the big screen.  George Lucas certainly has the technology at his disposal to do such a thing, but should he use it?
