The Trailer For The Documentary Based On Joaquin Phoenix’s Life Is Released
Joaquin Phoenix was a promising young actor who’d been nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Supporting Actor for Gladiator, and Best Actor for Walk The Line), and then in October of 2008 he announced that his upcoming movie Two Lovers would be his last. He’d decided that he wanted to be a musician, even though his only real experience singing was for the movie Walk The Line. He went into hiding for a few months, and when he emerged on the David Letterman show in February 2009 to promote his movie he seemed to be a completely different man. He looked disheveled with a long bushy beard and dark sunglasses, and was mostly incoherent and unresponsive to David Letterman’s questions. Letterman even said “Joaquin, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight,” at the end of the interview.
Was it all a plot though? The rap music he released to the public was laughable at best, and people were thinking it was all an act to draw attention to a documentary his brother-in-law Casey Affleck was filming on the transformation. The movie, I’m Still Here, is set to be released on September 10th, and by all accounts people still can’t tell if it’s real or not. Yahoo got an exclusive sneak peak at the preview for the movie, so take a look and decide for yourself if it’s a documentary, or a mockumentary.
