Betty White Getting Rave Reviews For Saturday Night Live
Television has a new powerhouse actress and it comes in the form of one sweet little Golden Girl. Betty White fans petitioned for her to be on Saturday Night Live and boy were they right on the money. White hosted a hugely anticipated episode that everyone is still talking about.
On Saturday night, the highly anticipated episode of Saturday Night Live featuring host Betty White aired to an amazing response. Betty White hosted the mother’s day special of SNL welcoming back female cast members Molly Shannon,Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer. With all of these amazing women on the show, you couldn’t go wrong. The 88-year-old actress got the live television show its highest ratings in 18 months of over 12 million viewers. She appeared in every skit of the night and even got a shout out from musical performer Jay-Z.
Betty White’s big comeback started a funny Snickers commercial aired during the Superbowl. If you think advertising has no effect think again. Fans of Betty White began lobbying for the actress to host SNL on Facebook. Over 500,000 people joined the campaign for Betty White on Saturday Night Live. SNL couldn’t ignore them.
Over the years Betty White has gained all of these loyal fans from her numerous television performances from The Mary Tyler Moore Show to The Golden Girls to appearances on Ugly Betty and 30 Rock. She has also starred in numerous movies including a hilarious role opposite Sandra Bullock in last year’s The Proposal. It should be no surprise that her fans were so adamant on getting her on SNL now.
While not everyone loved the show, everyone agreed that Betty White was the star of last night’s Saturday Night Live. Now that her name is on everyone’s lips expect to see a lot more of Betty White in the near future.
