How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

It’s no one’s favourite chore, but properly cleaning your makeup brushes is a must and should (ideally) be done on a weekly basis. Your brushes can become breeding grounds for germs and without proper and regular maintenance they can spread dirt, oil and bacteria, causing clogged pores, breakouts and, in more serious cases, infections. Follow these easy steps for cleaner brushes.

  1. Take a mild shampoo and put a dollop on the palm of your hand.
  2. Wet your brush in lukewarm water and swirl the brush in the shampoo – you’ll be able to see the makeup coming off onto your hand.
  3. Rinse the bristles and using a towel, gently squeeze out any remaining moisture.
  4. Use a towel to remove excess water and lay brushes flat to dry.
