What It Is:

Created by hair restoration brand Bosley, this dry shampoo is formulated with 13 different plant extracts. Described “as not just another dry shampoo”, Bosley’s Volumizing Dry Shampoo claims to absorb dirt and oil while creating lightweight volume, giving the appearance of thicker hair. This dry shampoo is said to be unique from other options, due to its usage of DHT inhibitors, which are said to maintain a healthy scalp while preventing hair loss. Bosley’s Volumizing Dry Shampoo is paraben, sulfate, and phthalate free, and is made with all vegan ingredients.

What We Thought:

With so many dry shampoos on the market, it can be surprisingly difficult to find one that is really effective. Our hopes for this product were that it would fulfill what the label promises by giving volume to flat, day-old hair while also decreasing the appearance of grease. We sprayed it on top and underneath unwashed hair and let it sit for two minutes, as the bottle recommends. After brushing it out, we were pleasantly surprised to see our hair had a fuller body and was also less oily. Bosley’s Volumizing Dry Shampoo also leaves basically no white residue, which means that brunettes don’t have to worry about white spots along their scalp. As the day went on, however, we were disappointed to feel our roots getting oily again, and found ourselves wishing we had brought the bottle with us for necessary touch ups. Overall, the product delivered on volume and decreased grease, but we wish its effects were longer-lasting.

Pros: This product volumized our hair, and also decreased the buildup of oil on our scalp. The fact that the product also contains ingredients that promote health hair is a huge bonus.

Cons: The positive effects lasted a couple of hours, and thus the product needed to be reapplied frequently.
