The freezing temperatures and dry air that come with autumn and winter are less than ideal conditions for our delicate face, resulting in withered and brittle skin. If the cold air and frigid winds have left you with a lacklustre visage, pamper yourself with homemade facial masks that you can make with simple ingredients from your own kitchen. From milk and honey to avocado and aloe vera masks, these easy DIY face masks are sure to hydrate your face and banish dry skin this season.
1) Use milk and honey facial mask to moisturize the skin: This simple face mask is an easy go-to home treatment you can do when your skin is feeling dull and needs a boost. The calcium and potassium in milk heals dry skin while the vitamin D stimulates collagen production and improves skin’s elasticity for a more youthful appearance. Honey is also a great moisturizer for the face while its antibacterial properties help treat and prevent acne. Rejuvenate your skin with this homemade mask. Mix one teaspoon of powdered milk and a tablespoon of honey in a small dish and stir until it forms a paste. Smear it onto your face and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes until it dries. Rinse it off with warm water. Your skin will immediately feel fresh and smooth.
2) Replenish dry skin with an oat bran mask: Fight dry flaky skin with an oat bran mask for a brighter complexion. Oats have a natural ingredient that removes excess oil and help prevent breakouts. Its grainy texture also makes it a great natural exfoliant to slough off dirt and eliminate dead skin cells. Mix half a cup of oat brans with a tablespoon of organic honey and plain, full-fat yogurt in a bowl and mix well until the honey and yogurt is melted into a thick consistency. Apply a thin layer to clean damp face and leave it to dry for at least 10 minutes. The oat blend helps to soothe irritated and itchy skin while moisturizing the face.
3) Try a banana and yogurt face mask for radiant skin: Nourish your face back to its natural glow with this creamy banana and yogurt mask. Banana is rich in vitamins A, B and E which help even out skin tone and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making it a natural anti-aging product. It also boosts the skin’s protective layer to protect it from harsh sun rays while providing moisture to dehydrated skin. Get younger-looking skin with this natural remedy. Blend a ripe banana along with half a cup of plain yogurt and a tablespoon of honey in a blender until it reaches a pasty texture. Apply to face and leave it for 20 minutes.

4) Hydrate your skin with avocado and aloe vera: For soft, supple skin, apply avocado and aloe vera to the face. Avocado contains natural oils and nutrients that help revitalize and repair chapped skin by bringing moisture back to it and keeping the face hydrated longer. On the other hand, the healing properties of aloe vera can help treat wind-burned skin and reduce any redness from the brisk autumn air. Take half an avocado and mash it into a smooth consistency and add in two tablespoons of aloe vera gel. For an added moisturizing ingredient, add a dollop of honey. Mix all ingredients to form a creamy paste and slather on to your face. Leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
