Doctors Say Stop Using Crayola Crayons As Makeup!
Doctors say stop using crayola crayons as makeup and Crayola issues multiple warnings against using Crayola crayons as eyeliner and as a substitute for eye makeup products. Despite all these warnings, young women continue to try out the popular beauty trend of dipping the coloured pencils in warm water and then using the pencils as eyeliner, shadow and even lip liner.
The reason for using Crayola pencil crayons as makeup? Fans of the Crayola eyeliner method claim it’s easy, fun and affordable. Depending on the brand, one eyeliner pencil can cost anywhere from $5.00 – $20.00, but for under $10, you can buy a box of bright, multi-coloured, non-toxic pencil crayons that will give you long-lasting eye colour easily. The belief is that since the product is made for kids, it won’t contain harmful ingredients or chemicals.
Due to growing interest in the beauty trend, Crayola has added a note to their website. “As the manufacturer of children’s products, safety is our top priority at Crayola. Although our products are nontoxic, we do not recommend using them to make lipstick, eyeliner or other make-up and strongly discourage their use in this manner. They are not designed, tested or approved for this purpose.”
So in other words, if you’re using Crayola pencil crayons as eyeliner, lip liner or face makeup, please stop. If you hear about the trend, ignore it.
