3 DIY At-Home Acne Treatments
There’s no need to shell out the big bucks for acne treatments – you’ve got all you need at home! These three methods help to effectively fight acne – from reducing inflammation to killing bacteria – and they all use common household items.
Crush up one or two aspirin and add just enough water to make a paste. Take a cotton swab and dab some onto the spots you want to treat. Aspirin contains salicylic acid, an ingredient commonly found in over-the-counter topical treatments for acne. It helps to dry out the pimple, as well as kill bacteria.
Take a bit of toothpaste on your finger or a cotton swab and cover the pimple. The silica in toothpaste will help to dry out the pimple. Leaving it on overnight will help to reduce it in size.
Take a lemon and cut it in half. Take the open half and rub it onto the outbreak (warning, it may sting a bit!) After using this method, apply sunscreen if you’re going outdoors – lemon makes skin sensitive to the rays, thus you’ll be more susceptible to burning.
