‘Brick Mansions’ Actress Carolina Bartczak’s Favourite Beauty Products
Carolina Bartczak is hitting the big screen this weekend as Clara, a ball-busting nurse in the new Paul Walker flick, Brick Mansions. This German born, now Canadian, actress has also been in several other notable TV series and films including The Listener, Covert Affairs, Karma’s A Bitch, Lucky 7 and the hard hitting play Dolores. Real Style recently got a chance to speak to Carolina about her favourite beauty products and how she keeps a healthy glow.
1.What are your go to beauty products and why?
I always feel at my best when I feel my skin is healthy and glowing, so I’ll use Kiehl’s pineapple papaya facial scrub in the morning and top it up with the Kiehl’s Rosa Arctics moisturizer that uses the rare resurrection flower for hydrating properties. Oh and I can’t live without bold lipstick colors. Minimal eye-make up and some MAC’s Candy Yum-Yum lipstick? Oh yes please.
Can you describe your beauty regime from morning to night?
Using a good cleanser like Kiehl’s washable cleansing milk and using a moisturizer is a great way to start the day and make yourself feel fresh. Afterwards definitely some kind of sun protection to keep away those harmful UVA and UVB rays. I use Smashbox Camera Ready BB cream. Their lightly tinted cream gives you a 35SPF protection and a bit of soft colour for a smooth finish. What kind of make up I put on my face is usually dictated by what I’m up to that day. Coffee with a friend? Some Smashbox Full Exposure mascara and an Ultra Mentha C.O Bigelow lip gloss. A night out? That’s when I let my creativity take over with Smashbox’s Santigolden eye shadow collage. But of course, at the end of the day, our mothers taught us that a good make up remover is key, like a gentle La Roche-Posay make up remover.
What would we find in your make up bag?
I am a natural blond so I absolutely have mascara and Benefit’s speed brow pencil in my make up bag to color in my eyebrows. I always carry MAC’s Lady Danger lip colour if I find that I need to dress up and am outside of the house. Oh, and a tiny sunscreen bottle from La Roche Posay in case I accidentally find myself sun bathing in the park.
Do you have a signature perfume?
I have been bewitched by TokyoMilk/Dark no. 83. I found this apothecary looking perfume in a tiny shop in downtown Toronto. The name itself is intriguing and the scents are imbued with dark and musky and sweet notes that are totally intoxicating. Makes me feel like a badass femme fatale in a neo noir film.
Do you have any food that you would recommend for that healthy glow?
I know there is a kale craze, but I just can’t get enough of it! Not only is it delicious, it is high in iron (for the ladies), and it’s an abundant source of antioxidant vitamins such as A, C, and K. It also lowers blood cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. I make delicious kale Caesar salads as well as kale chips and I add it to my smoothies. I grow it in my garden, and it grows like crazy with barely any effort from my end (thank God).
