Maybelline’s Grace Lee Reveals The Joe Fresh Runway Beauty

Joe Fresh

Maybelline New York’s lead makeup artist Grace Lee worked her magic on the models for the Joe Fresh runway show at the World MasterCard Fashion Week last night. Grace revealed the inspiration behind one of the most buzzed about beauty looks so far – and which products she used.

Grace Lee said of the inspiration, “When we went to see Joe [Fresh] at his studio for his hair and makeup test, he basically just said that he wanted his girls to look like they’ve been in a polar vortex. It was kind of easy because we’ve been living in it.”

Skin: To start the beauty look for the Joe Fresh runway, Grace primed and prepped the models skin with Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, and then applied Dream Fresh BB Cream for a dewy complexion.

Cheeks: “The elements of the makeup was about that flushed cheek that’s just been out in the cold. We did Dream Bouncy Blush in Pink Plum, and really it’s about concentrating that colour in that flushed parts of the cheek. I also layered it with Face Studio Master Glaze in Make a Mauve, but just concentrating on the apples of the cheeks.

Brows: “Brows were brushed through and filled in with Define-A-Brow Pencil. There’s something about the brows being brushed up just makes the girls look beautiful.”

Lashes: “We wanted the elements of the eye to really standout by using mascara so I have Volum’ Express The Rocket,  which was my first – one of my first loves – but I’m kind of cheating on it with this new mascara – Pumped Up! Colossal. I’m layering them together because you just get instant open and beautiful lashes.”

Lids: “The idea of the eye is about taking the element of what snow would look like.” Grace mixed a clear coat of Baby Lips and 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in Too Cool for a colour she described as, “high frost white pigment.”

Lips: “The lip was also muted, and we kind of catered it to all of the girls, so we really mimicked their natural skin tones. What I wanted was girls to not have ‘lipstick lips’ – so we did a layer – and then took it off.”
