Alice + Olivia Spring 2014

With spring just around the corner, it’s time to start working in the beauty trends we saw trickling down the runways. From contoured cheeks, to rose gold everything and a high gloss finish – we have your hottest spring makeup trends at the ready.

1. Contour, Contour, Contour: We are used to seeing exaggerated cheekbones on the runways, but this spring a lot of designers have chosen a softer approach that we can incorporate into our own routines – ahem Alice + Olive Spring 2014. Try using either a matte bronzer with metallic rose blush on the cheekbones. Why not try a bronzer with its almost purple base, and then topping the apples of your cheeks with a soft pink finish.

2. Rose Gold: We loved the unique tones of rose gold for accessories throughout the winter, but nothing compares to its influence in makeup. The Urban Decay Naked 3 palette is already a cult item in beauty lover’s makeup bags because of this, with its array of rose gold based hues and matte purple bases. Start with an eye primer and blend in your favorite combination!

3. The Power of Radiant Orchid: We love Pantone because they expose us to shades that we would otherwise be hesitant to approach. 2014 brings us Radiant Orchid, and exactly what we needed for the spring weather. Whether in a glossy lip, a gorgeous hued blush or even a cat-eye, you want a bit of orchid in your life. Basically – it’s bold and beautiful and the best way to standout in a sea of basic cat-eyes.

4. Glossy Lips: Rumor has it we are done with the matte lip for a while, and are bringing back the glossy sheens for the warm seasons ahead. Colour trends are muted lately, swapping out statement looks and emphasizing our natural lip tones instead. It seems like every brand under the sun is coming out with more natural, yet extravagantly shiny lip glosses for the upcoming seasons. If you’re not feeling the love of au natural, pick up the Illamasqua sheer lip gloss in “Tantrum”. The sheer deep berry pink shade is a perfect mixture of Pantone’s pick and the muted look of the runways.
