New Diet Trend: The Werewolf Diet
The new diet making waves this year is none other than the Werewolf Diet. Yes, the Werewolf Diet. According to followers of the diet (which apparently include Madonna), you can lose up to 6 pounds in a day in a full or new moon. Also known as the Lunar Diet, the plan is based on what Medical Daily says are the ‘known effects the moon has on the earth’s oceans and rivers with its gravitational pull’. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are in alignment during a new or full moon, there is a change in the atmospheric pressure and movement of the water. On these days, Christian Dyuraffur, president of the International Federation of Phyto and Aromatherapy says, the shift in atmospheric pressure has an effect on our metabolism, which allows for a faster removal of fat and toxins from the body.
The Werewolf Diet calls for timed cleanses throughout the month and follows a strict food/drink timeline. There are multiple ways to do the Werewolf/Lunar Diet, but for most people the diet itself lasts for only a couple of days at a time.
So does this diet plan actually work or have any basis in fact? It’s hard to say. We still don’t fully understand our connections and reactions to the moon and its phases, but experts say followers could lose weight because the diet features fasting elements which will aid in weight loss efforts.
