How To Get Kim Kardashian’s New Honey Highlights
“Blonde hair don’t care” was Kim Kardashian’s motto last Friday when she shocked her Twitter followers with a blonde hair debut! Kardashian seems to be making a habit of this lighter look as she famously ditched her dark locks for a caramel-blonde hue back in 2009. Now she is back for more fun with a golden hair colour that is drastically different from her signature look. If you love her new ‘do, we have some tips on how to get her new hair colour!
1. Lighten the Base: If your hair is dark like Kim’s you know that it is not so easy to become a blonde in a matter of minutes. For hair like Kim’s the first step is to lighten the base colour of your hair from a dark brown or black to a lighter brown hue. Her hair stylist George Papanikolas suggests using Joico’s Base Breaker for an instant lightening treatment that won’t produce unwanted red tones.
2. Balayage Highlights: If you’ve never heard of Balayage highlights, they are an alternative to the traditional foil highlights and are becoming increasingly popular amongst celebs. Papanikolas recommends this technique for the most natural looking highlights. It is a freehanded technique which means you are literally painting on the dye in the places that the sun would naturally hit.
3. Highlight Placement: For hair similar to Kim’s choose your highlight colour in a golden blonde shade. Then apply the colour focusing on the hair around the face, the natural part, and at the ends of the hair for soft and natural looking colour.
