Survive the Summer with a Melt-Proof Beauty Look
When the weather is hot and sticky the last thing you want is your makeup to start melting off your face. Luckily there are plenty of options when it comes to melt-proof makeup. After you’ve established a good base (we’re talking freshening the skin with a great cleanser and toner, then applying an oil-free moisturizer and sunscreen) your next goal is to choose makeup that will not only stand up to sweat, but also feel featherweight on your skin.
We loved the natural beauty on the Spring/Summer 2012 runway at Burberry Prorsum, which we think is a very wearable daytime summer look that’s easy to replicate. First you need to start with a quality foundation. Our pick is M.A.C. Cosmetics Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation, $30 that gives you up to 15 hours of coverage, meaning you can head to the office and still go out afterwards without having to redo your whole face. If you’re a bit dewy, oil-blotting tissues will solve that problem. Give your face a touch of colour with a bronzer, like The Body Shop’s Baked-to-Last bronzer, $21 that’s not only long-lasting, but also contains nourishing shea butter, and Vitamin’s A and E.
Before you start on your eyes, we recommend applying a primer, like Two Faced Cosmetics Shadow Insurance Crease Eye Shadow, $18, which will help your shadow from fading and creasing. Either line your eyes with a waterproof liquid liner, to ensure it says put, or for those who prefer a pencil, Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Eye Pencil, $24 is a perfect solution. Finish off with a long-wear lipgloss, like Smashbox’s Limitless Long Wear lip gloss, $22, that promises to last for six hours and also boasts a SPF 15.
