Is Your Lipstick Dangerous?
A new study had found that 400 lipsticks on the market today tested positive for lead. The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics coalition released a report this week that showed that the FDA found lead in popular lipstick brands.
According to the study, Maybelline’s Color Sensation had the highest lead content of those tested. It contained 7.19 parts per million. To help you figure out how dangerous that is, children’s products legally cannot contain more than 100 parts per million in the US. There is currently no standard for these cosmetics companies.
The lipstick in the test which came out the lowest was the affordable Wet & Wild Mega Mixers Lip Balm.
The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics is fighting the companies to reduce lead levels in their products, but ABC News reports that the FDA has released a statement saying that none of the levels they found are a health concern.
You can currently go to the Safe Cosmetics’ website to submit a video on your thoughts about this study to win a prize.
